AWT reviewed Whangarei District Council’s (WDC) trade waste charging model and benchmarked it against those used by other territorial local authorities across New Zealand. Recommendations were made to assist with the management of trade waste consents, customer compliance and calculation of invoices and reporting.

WDC also commissioned AWT to develop a web based Data Management and Invoicing System. This combines features specific to Whangarei District Council with the AWT base package. Questions of data confidentiality and security were addressed to the satisfaction of the WDC IT department. The final outcome is a secure and confidential data warehouse hosted by AWT for trade waste discharge quantity and quality data that produces customised reports and tailored invoices.
