Environmental Monitoring for Taupo District Council
In 2007, Waikato Regional Council (WRC) granted Taupo District Council (TDC) Comprehensive Stormwater Discharge Consents (CSDCs) to authorise the diversion and discharge of urban stormwater and associated contaminants at multiple locations to land and receiving waters (namely Lake Taupo and the Waikato River). The CSDC also covers use of discharge structures within the main Township areas of the Taupo District.

Parua Bay Stormwater Catchment Management Plan
The Parua Bay catchment has been extensively deforested which has led to an increase in rainfall run off and erosion in the catchment. Water quality in Parua Bay has been adversely affected as a consequence.

   Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade
In 2007, Franklin District Council (FDC) committed to upgrading the Pukekohe Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). This was necessitated as a result of ongoing non-compliance of the existing WWTP to meet resource consent standards, as well as projected future population demand.

   Taupo Land Disposal Scheme
The AWT Water's environmental team sought and acquired on behalf of Taupo District Council (TDC) a discharge permit to authorise the disposal of the Town's treated wastewater effluent via a Land Disposal Scheme (LDS) at View Road, Taupo.

   Waipu  Stormwater Catchment Management Plan
The Waipu catchment has been extensively deforested which has led to an increase in rainfall run off and erosion in the catchment. The two urban areas in the
catchment, Waipu and Waipu Cove, have been built on low lying swampy land that has been drained. Due to the low elevation of these urban areas and the extensive deforestation a significant portion of these settlements lie within a flood plain.

Waipu and Parua Bay Stormwater Catchment Management Plans
The Waipu and Parua Bay catchment have been identified as key growth areas in the Whangarei District. Extensive deforestation in both catchments has led to an increase in rainfall run-off and erosion, resulting in degraded water quality and increased flooding.
